    • ------------------------------------- How this blog got its name

------------------------------------ There was a large painting of Evel Knievel shaking hands with Richard Nixon. It hung in the Mayors office. Late one evening after everyone went home. I took it down to the lab. I zoomed in on Evel’s left eye a 100x and enhanced it. It was an address. I went to the address. It was a modest, 1970’s style, split level ranch home in the suburbs.

----------------------------------- Inside I found a dead parrot lying on a waterbed. I revived the parrot with some saltines and adrenaline. We became good friends. The parrots name was Randy. One night a few years later while Randy and me played Gin Rummy, he sang me a song about a fire. The title of this blog was never mentioned but I sensed it, and Randy confirmed it by giving me ‘THE LOOK’.

            :

So there was a guy (had to be a guy, right?) who was like the Jandek of videos.  A real YouTube sensation, in his own way.  Had a YouTube channel called The Chriddof Archives, if I remember correctly.

I guess he has a habit of disappearing, and taking his work with him.

But some people had the foresight to save these things, which are Breathtaking Works of Art.

Not to mention:  there are probably any number of folks ripping off the feel of these videos.

Hard for me to pinpoint what makes them so great.  But they are great, and I will post them here when I see them.

Back in the days before internet and social technology, one would see something like this at a rave or a weird art crawl and then you would be left to explain it to your friends through the majesty of song and interpretive dance.
