    • ------------------------------------- How this blog got its name

------------------------------------ There was a large painting of Evel Knievel shaking hands with Richard Nixon. It hung in the Mayors office. Late one evening after everyone went home. I took it down to the lab. I zoomed in on Evel’s left eye a 100x and enhanced it. It was an address. I went to the address. It was a modest, 1970’s style, split level ranch home in the suburbs.

----------------------------------- Inside I found a dead parrot lying on a waterbed. I revived the parrot with some saltines and adrenaline. We became good friends. The parrots name was Randy. One night a few years later while Randy and me played Gin Rummy, he sang me a song about a fire. The title of this blog was never mentioned but I sensed it, and Randy confirmed it by giving me ‘THE LOOK’.

According to a 2007 Pew Forum poll, the strongest supporters of the death penalty are white evangelical Christians, at 74%. Sadly its not surprising that a religious group whose God and savior was unjustly executed by the Roman state would overwhelming support the death penalty. Christians on the whole are about as un-Christ like as a group can get.   What I really don’t understand is, lets just set aside all philosophical, religious and political differences just for one minute and ask a massively simple question. Even if you support the death penalty do you really trust the government and our justice system to get it 100% right? Really?

            13. thedailydoodles answered: Hell to the nooooooo, and I can’t believe anyone would believe it. They trust the government to MURDER citizens?! Insane.

            19. answered: No, I don’t trust the system to get it right. Not at all.
            20. answered: these deeply are also deeply racist and it’s impossible to separate capital punishment from racism.
            21. answered: Not when “justice” is not truly blind.
            22. answered: Not in favor of the death penalty, but have lost all respect for the movement opposing it. They lie & distort, make heroes out of criminals.
            23. answered: No, I don’t. And there’s no undo button, so it’s best we stay away from it.
